Responsibilities

The Global Category Manager serves as the strategic leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for procurement within Indirects, the Technical Spend categories, including Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO), select Facility Management areas, and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX). This role oversees these functions primarily for the Xellia Pharmaceuticals sites in Copenhagen (CPH), Budapest (BUD), and Oslo (OSL).As the Global Category Manager, you will not only lead MRO and CAPEX procurement but also lead a team of Category Specialists for Indirects, coordinating sourcing activities globally across sites. This includes defining and implementing cohesive category strategies and ensuring their successful execution in alignment with business objectives. You will be responsible for CAPEX procurement initiatives, particularly those related to upcoming large-scale expansion projects, positioning you as the SME and key business partner for CAPEX procurement within the Global Procurement team. In addition, this role emphasizes a strategic leadership component, requiring collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and senior management to drive category and sourcing excellence. As a key strategic partner, you will lead a global team, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve ambitious procurement objectives within the Technical Spend categories. Your responsibilities will be the following: 
  • Develop strategic procurement strategies and priorities in alignment with Xellia’s global company strategy and directions, in collaboration with senior stakeholders, including preparation, development, and execution.
  • The Global Category Manager is the global category Subject Matter Expert (SME) and understands all needs and priorities of the relevant stakeholders for the spend categories in their scope 
  • Lead negotiations and contracting activities on all levels of CAPEX investments.
  • Act as a people manager and team lead, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to a team of cross-country procurement professionals, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with strategic category goals.
  • Global and regional category strategy development and execution within the assigned categories
  • Global and local MRO & CAPEX procurement activities (Engineering services, OEM Process Equipment, Construction, CQV services) 
  • Supplier relationship management (Set supplier KPIs, performance evaluation, dispute resolution, supplier visits, making/issuing Change Orders, delivery expedition)
  • Supply risk assessment and management (develop and execute mitigation plans)
  • Enforce Xellia’s Procurement Policy / Process compliance
  • Systems, processes and policies:
  • Use the defined systems and tools (e.g. E1, Palette, myProcess, PowerBI, Cirtuo, K-Rise Easy Buyer, Decision Focus, Scanmarket, SpendEdge etc.)
  • Support preparation and implementation of global procurement policies, SOPs, working instructions and templates as well as implement them in Territory.
  • Act in line with defined Xellia processes, SOPs and policies.
  • Ensure GxP regulations are followed at all times.
  • Understand, follow and enforce the Global Procurement Policy
  • Suppliers:
  • Identify and evaluate new potential suppliers in all areas of responsibility and as per valid procedures.
  • Manage the approval process of new potential suppliers in all areas of responsibility.
  • Negotiate and implement contracts with suppliers.
  • Support resolution of complaints to suppliers.
  • Responsible for regular updates regarding supplier data (e.g. data change, supplier inactivation, supplier classification etc.)
  • Change management, supplier exit and on-boarding with collaboration of the relevant stakeholders
  • Supplier portfolio management, enhance supply stability and improve supplier networks
  • Cash flow, savings and reporting:
  • Initiate, manage and support global cost saving and efficiency projects.
  • Manage spend and savings data related to territory under responsibility.
  • Report savings and other relevant activities data on time in full.
  • Strong focus on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Achieve relevant KPIs. 
  • Secure supply and improve supplier OTIF (On Time In Full):
  • Act as escalation point and support in securing that CAPEX & MRO projects follow defined timelines and mitigation initiatives are implemented in case of delays
  • Contribute to maintaining a supplier OTIF in line with Xellia's defined target
  • Contribute to securing that GxP regulations are followed at any time whenever is requested

Profile

  • Academic degree in Engineering or Business Administration. Fluency in English required - spoken and written. 
  • Experience from a position as Global Category Manager, Technical Category Manager/Lead Negotiator position or similar within the pharma area is preferred. 
  • It’s required that you have experience with contract standards like FIDIC or others. If you have working knowledge of the Danish standards AB18, ABR18 an ABT18 it’s plus. 
  • Knowledge of pharma-engineering is needed. 
  • Experience in production manufacturing environment and CAPEX experience. 
  • Able to work in a VUCA environment and efficiently take on local and global supply chain challenges.
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to optimize processes.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a similar type of position is a minimum requirement.
  • Experience in consulting is a plus.
